I don't know if this is just a badly written page in the manual but it doesn't cover what the Enable WINS server checkbox does.

If the local network has a WINS server installed, specify the IP address. The NAS will automatically register its name and IP address with WINS service. I understand that if your network has a WINS server then you'd check the USE SPECIFIED WINS SERVER checkbox and enter in the IP address of that server. But the 3rd sentence doesn't make any sense as it basically repeats what is said in the 1st sentence and doesn't cover at all what the Enable WINS server checkbox is for. Then they go on to say that if you don't understand what the option is for then don't use it. How about telling us what the option is for, as it seems like a totally redundant option button if you go by what is inside the manual
OR is this an option to have the QNAS server act as a WINS server as well?? That would be a totally cool option as then you can do name resolution at home without the need for running a windows server.
